Priorities

Creating communities through innovation and imagination

Ward 7 deserves strong and independent representation on city council. As your council representative, I will focus on building communities that allow people of all ages, stages, and abilities to thrive. To accomplish this, my focus will be in five main areas.

Unleash safe, affordable housing for all

We have to tackle the housing and affordability crisis, and we don’t have time or money to waste re-thinking what we’re already doing right.

We need to focus on the projects, policies, and partnerships that result in the highest benefit to the most people.

Best Practice and Data-Driven Community Building

Identify projects and strategic opportunities that will benefit the greatest number of Calgarians, and that will require careful planning to ensure that likelihood of negative impacts on the community is reduced.

Increase Housing Affordability, Security, and Choice

The City is getting a lot right when it comes to housing affordability, especially after the implementation of Home is Here: The City of Calgary’s Housing Strategy. I will support the continued implementation of the Housing Strategy, especially working with non-profit and Indigenous housing providers to build and provide more homes for those most in need.

Build transit that won’t leave you out in the cold

As a rapidly growing city, we need to provide frequent and reliable public transit options

Transit should work for everyone. I am committed to building a system that is affordable, reliable, and safe. I will freeze transit fares and expand the Fair Entry program to reduce financial barriers. We’ll increase frequency and reliability by fast-tracking bus-only lanes and working toward a 24-hour core service. I will fiercely champion the Green Line to completion. And together, we'll make riding transit more enjoyable and secure, from adding station amenities and Transit Ambassadors to supporting compassionate care for those in need. My goal is a transit system that truly meets the needs of our Ward 7 residents.

Bring back the community corner store

Neighbourhood shops are key to vibrancy

Calgary used to have a network of corner stores in every community. They contributed to a sense of community care and ensured our essentials were just a short walk away. Improved transit and pedestrian measures are just one part of creating a walkable city. Our neighbourhoods lose something when most small shops are eaten up by big box stores.

Calgarians should be able to get their needs met at the neighbourhood level. Here's how we get there. 👇

Make Ward 7 walkable, bikeable, accessible

Ward 7 is the heart of our amazing city. I commit to making it easier and safer to get around our communities however you choose.

Invest in pools, playgrounds, public services

How can we provide public services and spaces that help communities thrive?

A thriving community is built on accessible, modern, and welcoming public spaces. My plan for Ward 7 ensures our inner-city recreation centres and pools are upgraded and maintained as safe, accessible, and energy-efficient hubs for all. I am committed to removing financial barriers by expanding free and low-cost programming, because cost should never be an obstacle to fitness and leisure. Furthermore, I will protect our public assets from being sold off; instead reimagining underused spaces into new parks and green areas for community use. Finally, we will empower residents through community-led placemaking and ensure our parks and facilities are well-connected and accessible to every member of the community.

My vision for Chinatown

I believe our city must rebuild trust with Chinatown by listening to your needs and delivering pragmatic solutions. I commit to improving safety, supporting family businesses, and investing in and celebrating Chinatown’s unique cultural identity.
