Building up a well-loved pathway system
GOALS:
- Reduce pathway congestion and pedestrian - bike - scooter conflict
- Increase the use of pathways for commuting
HOW WE GET THERE:
- Increase enforcement of existing by-laws prohibiting power-on-demand or gas-powered bicycles
- Continue to invest in the separation of wheeling and walking spaces on pathways
- Widening of narrow pathways
- Invest in on-street protected routes to reduce reliance on pathways
-
Require new developments on neighbourhood connector or mainstreets to integrate cycling and scooter infrastructure, especially if along a designated bikeway
- Storage, parking, and access points need to be considered
- Install much needed wayfinding signage throughout Ward 7 to improve wayfinding at key intersections such as at the Peace Bridge, exits off the Bow River Pathway, Edworthy Park, etc.
